The Worst YouTube Video of All-Time? (And the Most Awesome)

I’m sure that by the time this blog is posted, you will probably have heard or seen the video for 13-year-old Rebecca Black’s song, “Friday.” It has been up on YouTube for over a month and a half and to date has garnered over 63 million views. But as far as the reception goes, let me put it to you this way: YouTube has a rating system where you can either thumbs up or thumbs down a video. To date, the video for “Friday” has over 138,000 thumbs up ratings and (drumroll, please) over 1.1 million thumbs down ratings!

Whoa, back up. 1.1 million thumbs down ratings?! Is that a record for YouTube? Could this song officially be declared “the worst YouTube video of all time?!”

So far, I haven’t come across any other videos who have more thumbs down ratings than that, so I guess it must be true. I have seen the video itself and found myself facepalming in dismay. All I can say is wow… just wow.

On the other hand, I also came across another viral video that was really awesome and very funny too. If you saw the Friday video, I’m sure you’ve seen this one:

In this video that was filmed in Australia, a kid decided to walk up to another kid about twice his size and starting punching him in the face. Then without warning, the bigger kid picked up the bully like a sack of potatoes and like a wrestler body-slammed him into the ground. To me that was probably the best case of epic pwnage that I have ever seen on YouTube. I couldn’t stop laughing, especially when the bully couldn’t try to walk afterwards.

However as a result of the victim’s brilliant act of self-defense, he was suspended from school, which I think is not cool. This kid should be viewed as a hero or at least respected, not suspended for standing up for himself. Don’t worry, this kid’s a hero in my book.

But to conclude this I just want to say that if that “Friday” song ends up being this year’s YouTube prank (Rick Roll, anyone?) for April Fools Day, I’m really gonna flip my top.

Q & A: Ninjas vs. Green Berets

Hello, everyone. Here is the latest installment of Q & A where I answer yet some more questions that I have been asked on the web. I start off the segment with questions I have been asked on my Formspring account.

Q:What’s your favorite Sci-Fi movie?

A: The Star Wars movies.

Q: What celebrity would you most like to meet in person?

A: Any of ’em would be fine.

Q: Would you rather have the ability to fly or the ability to breathe underwater?

A: Can’t I have both? lol

Q: What was the most interesting place you’ve traveled to?

A: Puerto Rico during spring break of my junior year at Red Hook High School back in the 1995-96 school year. It’s hard to believe that as of this April it will have been 15 years since I made that trip.

Q: Who’s the most beautiful person you know?

A: Not sure, but then again, it’s probably not a good idea to name names in a video in case someone decides to gripe about being mentioned in a YouTube video.

Q: Who’s your favorite musician?

A: Elvis Presley, the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.

Q: What are you most excited about right now?

A: Right now, excited that I’m doing the new season of The Adventures of Blackcatloner.

Q: Do you like it when it snows?

A: Since I live in NY, I would have to say no.

Q: Who do you text message with the most?

A: I don’t really text anyone.

And now on to the Myyearbook questions:

Q: What’s your favorite color?

A: Black.

Q: If I said you had to live without your phone for a week, could you do it?

A: I currently am living without my phone. Haven’t had it since November, but I am in the process of getting another one probably in the next week or two.

Q: If you could have either true love, long life, or a super human ability, which would you choose?

A: Probably long life and superhuman ability because true love doesn’t exist.

Q: Who is your hero?

A: Myself.

Q: What did you eat for breakfast today?

A: Cereal, even though at the time I answered that question, I had a cinnamon bun at Empire Diner.

Q: What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever worked for?

A: My independence.

And to close this latest Q & A segment out, I figured I’d throw in this question that I came across on Twitter that was asked by local tweeter Thomas Armitage, who is a reporter for the Utica Observer-Dispatch, one of the local newspapers in my neck of the woods.

Q: Who would win in a fight, ninjas or green berets?

A: It all depends on the playing field. In close quarters, the ninjas would win, but out in the open, the berets would win because they have guns, tanks, jets, snipers, etc.

That question was pretty much similar to a question that was asked to AngryAussie in a video a couple of years ago, except that the battle was between pirates and ninjas. However the answer is still the same. And there you go, another Q & A completed. If you want to participate and don’t have a Formspring account, you can always ask in the comment section below.
