Well, I figure I’d take a little time out of my orientation to blog about me starting a new chapter in my life: Going back to school.
As of today, I have officially begun my orientation as a student at Herkimer County Community College where I will be majoring in Radio and TV Broadcasting and so far it is going pretty good. Although it means that I may be focusing on school work more than my regular activities here on the web (I’ll still be doing Facebook and Twitter at work and at home via my mobile web), I think that it’s finally time for me to move on and I think that college may very well be what I need to help myself become an even bigger success on the web.
As of June, I am out of action indefinitely as far as making YouTube videos goes, primarily because I need new equipment that I can’t really afford right now. I was also trying to remedy some other matters closer to home as well which had been my goal all summer. And now here I am, a college student. Hey, it only took me fourteen years to come to the decision that I actually need college to succeed rather than my wits which I have been going by for years.
I know the road ahead will not be easy. Then again nothing in my life ever has been easy. I am only going part-time because of my job, so there’s the possibility that I might be going at least three years. But I have always met every challenge head on no matter how ill-equipped I was or how bad the situation was and I will get through this one.
Whatever happens, I will be ready, I will meet and I will rise up to the challenge as I always do. And I will give everyone reason to be proud of your friendly neighborhood Blackcatloner.
I am writing this post from the Basloe Library because of the fact that the Internet at my house has been disconnected as of yesterday and it won’t be back up until at least Tuesday because of the Fourth of July weekend.
This actually comes on the heels of a tornado that came through Herkimer Monday afternoon while I was asleep. It happened on the other side of Herkimer about two blocks or so from my house. It mainly affected a one-mile area from West German Street right up to where Lowe’s is on the outskirts of Herkimer. I saw photos on WKTV.com that included sheds blown around the parking lot and plants destroyed. Despite that, there were no injuries and the damage in the hit areas were minor. Thankfully, the town itself, including the area where I live were unaffected by the tornado. But once again, I missed out on yet another video opportunity that could have made into this week’s episode of TAOB.
First the earthquake last week, now the tornado this week. What next? A hurricane?
And speaking of TAOB, since my Internet is down for the weekend, I am going to try to get the new episode up tomorrow afternoon. Even without the Internet, I can still edit videos. It’s just that I have to burn the finished video to a CD before I even attempt to upload it to the Internet. I have done it before last year when I lost Internet. And I just finished cleaning out space on a CD that I can add a video to. Hopefully, the upload to YouTube will go smoothly.
So anyway, it looks like I’ve been forced to take a little vacation from the Internet for the weekend. But like I said, I will be back at the library tomorrow and hopefully, I will have Episode 21 of TAOB up here for you to enjoy this Fourth of July weekend. All I can tell you about this week’s episode is… there will be fireworks. Yes, folks. Tonight Herkimer has its annual Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular and I have to leave for work a little earlier tonight so I can get some footage to include in tomorrow’s episode.
Here is my latest vlog where I get to use the new Gillette Fusion Proglide razor and you get to see the results.
First off, I decided to buy the Gillette Fusion Proglide razor mainly because it was heavily promoted on YouTube. In fact, there was a competition that went on between popular YouTubers Cory “Mr. Safety” Williams, Charles Trippy, and Mediocre Films, and you had to pledge to shave with the Gillette Fusion Proglide razor on June 6. Unfortunately, I couldn’t afford to buy the razor then and I ended up missing out on a chance to win ten thousand dollars. Oh, well. There’s always other competitions, but if I did enter I probably would have been on team CTFxC (which stands for Charles Trippy Friend Core for those of you who don’t know your YouTube celebrities.)
Well this weekend, I finally bought the Gillette Fusion Proglide gift pack which contained the razor itself, thermal face scrub lotion, cooling lotion, and shaving cream. All that in a ten dollar gift pack, which is not bad. And it was probably well worth it too.
Because as you can see below, it worked.
What I found really good about it was that the razor is battery-operated and it glides smoothly over your face as opposed to regular and electric razors. So despite the fact that I still don’t like shaving because it makes me look like a kid, it looks like I will be using this razor for a while.
Lately, I have been spending quite a bit of time on Twitter, which is basically a site where you write little blurbs about what you’re doing so that your friends can follow you. I joined that site basically to follow all of my favorite YouTubers and I actually enjoy that site very much that I spend every day on it posting my little blurbs and including links to this site as well as the Cat A Day site whenever I post a blog entry. In fact I managed to link my Twitter site with my Facebook site so whenever I make an update on Twitter, it will also appear as a Facebook update.
And another thing that has been bugging me. Lately the computer has been acting up quite a bit. Every so often it basically blinks in and out and I get these popups saying please activate your Antivirus. It gets pretty annoying especially when you’re trying to do something like writing this blog. In fact it did it again just now. I hope that this gets resolved soon.
