As the Christmas season descends upon us yet again, I just want to touch base with everyone since I have been busy with school and other things to fire off this little post here. Earlier this month, I have completed my first semester as a college student at HCCC. And as it turns out, I did really good. I ended the semester with two A’s and two B’s. So my GPA to date is currently standing at 3.49. Not bad for an old guy who’s been out of school for fourteen years now, eh?
So basically, I am free until January 23, which is the start of the second semester. I am still set to the four class roster that I had last semester, but I actually have classes on all five days. I have two on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday but only one class on Wednesday. I am gonna be taking Audio Production, Advertising, and Computer Applications as well as a gym class so I can gain access to the Fitness Center up there.
I am rapidly trying to get back in shape considering that I missed about a whole month because I got a cold back in October that lasted about a couple of weeks. So I am basically trying to get back into the game here, especially with the new year right around the corner. Gotta get back in shape.
And it also looks like I might be getting a laptop just in time for next semester. It should also help me out when it comes time to get back to my Internet activities, most notably my YouTubing. I am hoping that I can get new equipment and hopefully get back to making videos possibly by early 2012. I have a whole slew of ideas and I am just waiting to try them all out.
Since I probably won’t be back online until Tuesday, I just want to take the opportunity right now to wish everyone a Merry Christmas.
‘Tis the morning of Christmas and all through the web, I am here posting my latest blog. After all the aggravation I had to endure at work over the last month, it is nice to finally get a three-day Christmas weekend from work.
So far for Christmas, I got a new digital coffee maker from my sister and my brother-in-law. I’m supposed to get some more stuff from my folks when they get here. They’re supposed to be here a little earlier today because the weather is calling for sleet and freezing rain, hardly what one would call a “white Christmas.” We haven’t had a white Christmas up here in quite a while. I do remember my first Christmas in Central New York in which we had a really big blizzard.
As far as the sleet goes, it is supposed to be really bad tonight into tomorrow morning. As of right now, I am not sure if I am going down to my brother’s house tomorrow yet being that travel conditions will be extremely difficult. I was originally planning to go tomorrow, but now I am not sure. I was also hoping to get some footage from the Hudson Valley to show my peeps where I came from and how much the area has changed in the several years since I was last down there. So we’ll have to see.
Right now I am sitting here watching “A Christmas Story” on DVD. That movie never gets old. With all the 24/7 showings that movie gets every year on cable, no wonder that movie was named the greatest Christmas movie of all time. And with that, I guess I better get back to celebrating the holidays. If I get any more updates, I am sure that I will be posting them on here.
Until then… Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.
Well here we are. The last day of 2008. And what better way to end the year than with another snowstorm to annoy me. But instead of getting into another rant about how bad the snow’s been here in Central New York, I’m going to do another retropective on the year 2008.
The year 2008 has been a really historic and important year. For one thing, America elected Barack Obama as the first-ever black President of the United States but it’s not just the fact that he was elected. The whole election campaign was also a major historic event because of the fact that it also had a female vice-presidential candidate that was more or less reviled by the world. Also in 2008 news, “The Dark Knight” dominated the box office thanks largely to the late Heath Ledger as the Joker (may he rest in peace); and how about that Michael Phelps, eh? And it ends on a pretty high note because we finally saw OJ Simpson go to jail for armed robbery and kidnapping.
For me, other than the fact that I officially took my Internet life to the next level and started making YouTube videos, the year was more or less uneventful. Even as this year ends, I officially have 320 subscribers on YouTube and growing. I also added Facebook and Twitter to my Internet list. I also have obtained a side job with the Historical Society mowing their lawn and shoveling them out. Speaking of the Historical Society, my book is now officially on permanent hold because I found out about another book that is being written that pretty much parallels what I’m doing. I may decide instead to do a video for YouTube.
As far as 2009 goes, I have really high hopes that it will be my breakout year on the Internet, especially on YouTube. I have several goals I hope to accomplish there but perhaps the biggest goal I would like to achieve next year is that I want to get partnership on YouTube so I can start making money on my videos. As far as what directions I want to go with my videos, I have a variety of ideas that I want to try out, like maybe do some videos that are based on what I write here on this blog and I might do a tutorial video because I had received some comments that asked me for advice about how to make cat videos. Besides, I hear that tutorial videos do really well on YouTube.
Tonight is probably the worst night for me to work, especially since tonight is New Year’s Eve and usually you’re supposed to be with a loved one or with a new relationship instead of being at work. Tonight is really going to suck. Hopefully that will change next year.
So anyway, I know this is a shorter blog than what I usually do, but it’s the holidays after all, not to mention that I do have to work tonight to clean up the mess that everyone left on Christmas Eve. And then after that, I have my normal Friday and Saturday off from work. And so I have to start getting ready for videos next week, which is New Year’s. So happy holidays, everyone.
It is absolutely amazing. This year went by so fast. I can’t believe that New Year’s is only three days away. I’m sorry that I haven’t been here so much the last couple of weeks. It’s just that I have been really busy with things, both online as well as at work, especially with the Christmas shoppers at work. And over the holiday, I ended up with a three-day weekend off from the ‘Net. I spent Christmas Eve sleeping and Christmas Day working on my book until it was time to go to work. Yes, I did work on Christmas night, but the store didn’t open until the following morning.
Last weekend was Christmas for my brother-in-law’s kids in which I gave them all gift cards. This weekend is the grown-up’s Christmas. Anyway, I ended up doing some last-minute shopping this morning before coming in to go online. I also have another three-day weekend from the ‘Net to look forward to because of New Year’s. However, I still do have to work both days. I won’t be back online until Wednesday and by then it will be a new year: 2008.
As I have mentioned before, this year has been really crazy. It started off pretty much with me getting attacked at work by some customer with a baseball bat. That story is still not over yet, but he is still in jail, now awaiting sentencing, which won’t be until February. Then in March, I officially opened this site and ended my Yahoo site after that. I also created my “Cat A Day” site back in August. And if that isn’t the icing on the cake, I found that my online popularity had been increasing significantly. Just think, pretty soon I’ll be another Internet success story and who knows where that will lead.
I also have a book that I am working on, which is still not completed yet although it is pretty close. I started it last December, but was preempted because of the Valentine’s Day blizzard and then my assault at work. I didn’t get back on track with that until the summer. Now I am pretty close to the end. Hopefully within the next month or so, I will be ready to submit it to a publisher.
And so I must close the first year of this site by thanking those of you who have supported me throughout the course of this site and hopefully you will continue to stick around because hopefully, the best is yet to come.
