Walk the Line

This week, I hear tragic news involving a friend of mine from YouTube and it forces me to confront my own humanity.

Close Shaves

Here is my latest vlog where I get to use the new Gillette Fusion Proglide razor and you get to see the results.

First off, I decided to buy the Gillette Fusion Proglide razor mainly because it was heavily promoted on YouTube. In fact, there was a competition that went on between popular YouTubers Cory “Mr. Safety” Williams, Charles Trippy, and Mediocre Films, and you had to pledge to shave with the Gillette Fusion Proglide razor on June 6. Unfortunately, I couldn’t afford to buy the razor then and I ended up missing out on a chance to win ten thousand dollars. Oh, well. There’s always other competitions, but if I did enter I probably would have been on team CTFxC (which stands for Charles Trippy Friend Core for those of you who don’t know your YouTube celebrities.)

Well this weekend, I finally bought the Gillette Fusion Proglide gift pack which contained the razor itself, thermal face scrub lotion, cooling lotion, and shaving cream. All that in a ten dollar gift pack, which is not bad. And it was probably well worth it too.

Because as you can see below, it worked.

Me after using the Gillette Fusion Proglide razor.

What I found really good about it was that the razor is battery-operated and it glides smoothly over your face as opposed to regular and electric razors. So despite the fact that I still don’t like shaving because it makes me look like a kid, it looks like I will be using this razor for a while.

Calling Mr. Safety

In a reedited video I originally did for YouTube in 2008, I decided to make a telephone call to YouTube star Cory “Mr. Safety” Williams, best known for making the “Mean Kitty” videos and whom I have cited as the man who influenced my YouTube career. This video was part of an interactive phone game video he put forth back in late 2008, but this version was one that I redid last summer.

My main motivation behind reediting the Mr. Safety video was mostly due to the fact that Cory was getting married at the time and I wanted to make a video to commemorate the occasion. However, the only answer that I could come up with was to do an extended cut of a video that I did before. I was planning to do an extended cut anyway for a DVD collection I was working on at the time so it all worked out.

Among the extended scenes that I added included scenes of Cory going crazy and blaming it on his ADD. Also included is an exchange about haters and features a cameo appearance by Old Blue, a cat we had over the summer but now is long since gone. That scene was perhaps one of the most random moments in the video, especially since Cory is best known as “the guy with the cat.”
