You knew it had to happen, folks. This episode of TAOB is my official “comeback” video. In this one, I talk about where I’ve been and what I’ve been doing for the past year, including how my first year at college went. I also show you a little bit of my college life as well as offer my thoughts on the Boilermaker and I get to show off a little bit of my cooking skills. I also offer my thoughts on the tragic “Dark Knight Rises” mass shootings in Colorado. Yes, folks. This episode’s got it all.
On July 10, 2010 as part of the General Herkimer Days’ celebration in Herkimer, the people at Crazy Otto’s Empire Diner attempted to set the record for the world’s largest omelet. I just happened to be on hand for this particular event. So did they succeed? Well watch the video and find out.
I am writing this post from the Basloe Library because of the fact that the Internet at my house has been disconnected as of yesterday and it won’t be back up until at least Tuesday because of the Fourth of July weekend.
This actually comes on the heels of a tornado that came through Herkimer Monday afternoon while I was asleep. It happened on the other side of Herkimer about two blocks or so from my house. It mainly affected a one-mile area from West German Street right up to where Lowe’s is on the outskirts of Herkimer. I saw photos on WKTV.com that included sheds blown around the parking lot and plants destroyed. Despite that, there were no injuries and the damage in the hit areas were minor. Thankfully, the town itself, including the area where I live were unaffected by the tornado. But once again, I missed out on yet another video opportunity that could have made into this week’s episode of TAOB.
First the earthquake last week, now the tornado this week. What next? A hurricane?
And speaking of TAOB, since my Internet is down for the weekend, I am going to try to get the new episode up tomorrow afternoon. Even without the Internet, I can still edit videos. It’s just that I have to burn the finished video to a CD before I even attempt to upload it to the Internet. I have done it before last year when I lost Internet. And I just finished cleaning out space on a CD that I can add a video to. Hopefully, the upload to YouTube will go smoothly.
So anyway, it looks like I’ve been forced to take a little vacation from the Internet for the weekend. But like I said, I will be back at the library tomorrow and hopefully, I will have Episode 21 of TAOB up here for you to enjoy this Fourth of July weekend. All I can tell you about this week’s episode is… there will be fireworks. Yes, folks. Tonight Herkimer has its annual Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular and I have to leave for work a little earlier tonight so I can get some footage to include in tomorrow’s episode.
This is actually a funny episode here in which I find some random stuff around Herkimer, including a horse statue named Mr. Ed (which I originally thought was put out in the window of a local building as an April Fools joke) and an advertisement outside of a church which inevitably leads to jokes about the Zombie Jesus. Plus you get to see Arthur and my latest attempt to score an HD camcorder, courtesy of a sweepstakes contest sponsored by Coca-Cola. The camcorder I am after is a Sony HD Handycam and the contest ended March 31. I have to wait until April 15 to find out if I won it. I am definitely keeping my fingers crossed.
Since Easter is officially a holiday that revolves around the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, us YouTubers have the tendency to refer to him as the Zombie Jesus. There were quite a few videos revolving around the Zombie Jesus coming out at Easter time. So this year, I too decided to jump on the bandwagon. What inspired me to do this was when I was walking home from work one day and I saw an advertisement in front of a church telling people to “beat the Easter rush” to church. That is obviously one Easter rush I just as soon avoid, being that I am not religious and all. Still I couldn’t resist the urge to take that idea and run with it.
It seems like I’ve been reduced to doing at least one blog a month lately. Once again, my status on the Internet is increasing more and more, most notably on Twitter. Last weekend, I was at 180 or so followers and by the end of that weekend, I found out that I had pretty close to if not over 250 followers. Basically a tenfold increase which is awesome in regards to my future on the web.
Anyway, this weekend was hotter than hell. Yesterday, it was almost 90 degrees out and it’s supposed to be in the high 80’s both tomorrow and Tuesday. I had originally planned to shoot my video for the longest HD video outdoors yesterday but I underestimated how hot it was supposed to get and my plans there were defeated. So I’ll have to wait until probably tomorrow to film that. I am also contemplating doing a video about the Craigslist killer because number 1, he’s big news and 2, he was originally from the Mohawk Valley so we’ll see. But as far as the weather goes, it is a safe bet to say that summer has come early this year.
