One Year Closer to 40

Well, here I am. 39 years old. One year closer to 40.

However, before I get to that I should get this little bit of news out of the way first. First up, I am happy to report that I officially made my main website on WordPress into a dot-com site and just in time for the site’s tenth anniversary next month. In fact, on Valentine’s Day I was finally able to enable ads on my site because when you get a domain name on WordPress you have the option to monetize your site which is what I have wanted to do for a long time.

In other words, my website is now officially known as So now I am even closer to my dream of turning my online life into a full-fledged career.

The thing about birthdays is that the older I get, the more I start to reflect on my life as it was before I got to this point. And I feel like I made quite a bit of progress in the last few years, especially in the last few days starting with when I got my degree in the mail last week and now with me officially upgrading my site to a dot-com site. That while I feel like there’s more I could do, I feel like I am in a pretty good spot right now.

Unfortunately, I ended up coming down with a pretty bad cold for my birthday which even as I write this I am getting over. Add that to the fact that it’s been snowing pretty hard all week and you can tell that it wasn’t really a good week. But I can’t really complain though, especially with my big accomplishment this week.

I have actually started to uphold one of the resolutions I have made at the beginning of the year and that is the fact that as of a few weeks ago, I have started to quit the online dating biz by deleting my profiles on various dating sites. I started by deleting my profile on Zoosk which is a Facebook dating app three weeks ago. And last week I have officially deleted my profile on OKCupid which now leaves Plenty of Fish (which I did quit a while back but went back because I originally wanted to do a video on it as kind of a social experiment) and left. It’s a slow process because once again my relationship with online dating is the fact that it’s kind of like an itch you can’t help but scratch but it looks like they will be going soon.

And there you go, that’s pretty much what has been going on the last couple of weeks. I filmed a new episode of Blackcatloner Reviews before coming to the library today and I’ll be getting back to work on new videos again this week.

And here is another Throwback Thursday video for you from 2009: It’s the other surviving Black Cat Weekly video which involved a side effect of the notorious diet pill Alli (made famous by a blog rant from AngryAussie); two Texas farmers find a dead animal that resembles the fabled chupacabra; and I was also there when the news reported the unveiling of the now-popular website People of where people post photos of the worst-dressed Wal-Mart customers.

Three Down, One to Go

Well my third year at Herkimer College has come to a close and my first year as a New Media major which now means that I have one year left before I graduate next year.

It was by no means an easy task especially since my laptop needs a new battery which hurt me as far as my online classes went but I still managed to get everything done even if it meant I had to use the library to finish up everything including my Communication Arts Portfolio which you hopefully saw in my last post. As far as grades go, all I know is that I passed Communication Arts Portfolio and I’m looking at either an A or an A- in Social Media for my work on my social media platform in an attempt to raise awareness for Net Neutrality. If you want to check out my blog for that the link is here:

  • So with my laptop troubles, that also means that I won’t really be making any new videos for a while until I can get a battery. So that means that I will have to go back to old-school blogging for a while. But that doesn’t mean I don’t have any new projects in the works. For a while, I have been considering creating a short story blogsite where I can post my short stories. I actually came up with that idea when I was tweaking my Social Media Stranger short story that I wrote in my English II- Lit class and that I later posted on here for all to read. I’ll have more on the short story site as the summer continues. And as soon as I get my laptop working again and start working on videos again, I will let you know.

And speaking of which, I am enjoying the lovely weather that we have been having for the last two weeks which is proof that summer has arrived at last and you know what that means: Another year of “hot weather, hot chicks,” which is my philosophy as far as summer goes. So hopefully the summer will be successful.

Well that is kinda all I have for now. I just wanted to keep you up to speed on what I have been doing and hope to see you all soon.

    Another New Semester

In case you may or may not be aware, I have officially started my third year at HCCC this week. Yes, folks. The beginning of the end has arrived. And this is my first semester in my new major which is Communication Arts and New Media. And so far, things are going pretty good. I think my courses may be easier this time around.

Oh, what’s that? What do I have for courses this semester? Well, on Mondays and Wednesdays I have Photography and on Tuesdays and Thursdays I have Computer Graphics and Design. And that’s not all. I am also taking a web design course. And it’s an online course so I don’t really have to be on campus a whole lot compared to the last two years. And I have Fridays off like I did towards the end of last semester. The way it stands right now it doesn’t look like any of the problems that plagued me last semester will rear its ugly head. But it’s college, you know.

In Photography, I’ll be going old school with some old school black and white equipment. In Computer Graphics, I’ll be learning how to design regular stuff using Photoshop and various other stuff which I’ve only had mediocre success with in the past. And as far as my online course Web Design goes, my ultimate goal will be to create my own website. I don’t really think it’s going to be connected with my regular activities here, but at least it will be very useful when I continue to expand. Next thing you know, I’ll be able to rule the Interwebs. XD

Sometimes it isn’t easy transitioning back to college after taking a summer off. However, I don’t really have that heavy a workload this semester. Right now I don’t really have to worry about tests or anything. Most of the final exams I have will mainly be presentations which is a load off. Hopefully, I will be able to avoid the disaster that befell me last semester with the erratic scheduling.

So yeah, there you go. My final year of college has officially begun and it will be a recurring theme throughout the remainder of the year and into next year. As far as what I plan to do after I graduate, I don’t know. One idea I have and probably should do is relocate to another state and I’m not sure. Maybe continue my education in a college, but I gotta go where I can have better opportunities to be successful be it job, relationship, whatever. Because whatever I’m looking for I’m obviously not gonna find it here in New York. I’ve gotta go where the opportunities are.
