Blackcatloner Lives Again

It’s amazing how fast this year has gone, Can’t believe it’s October already. Haven’t had much time to do much as far as this site goes mainly because of my job which I have been on vacation from since last Friday. Once again, the thing I hate most about taking vacations from work is that they go by too fast. One more day and I go back. Right now, I’m sitting at Burger King after spending all day at the library dealing with yet another Windows 10 update. It took forever as usual but it was successful despite the fact that I was cutting it close as far as getting the upload completed before the library closed.

As far as things have been going, my job has been good. The store recently underwent remodeling earlier in the year which is partly the reason why I haven’t been as active as far as content producing goes. As far as YouTube goes, that phase is over and I have been scaling back on my social media sites. My reasons for this have to do with the harsh political climate that we are in right now. In fact, I am seriously considering deleting all my videos off my main channel (since they are already backed up on the site) in protest of the left’s attempts to stifle free speech. I also voluntarily deleted my Twitter for that same reason. I’m not going to go into too many details for obvious reasons. At the end of the day, we live in a society.

However, I do have plans to make a comeback of sorts, except that this time it will be through podcasts rather than videos because podcasting has grown in popularity in recent years. And that is why I decided to resurrect The Blackcatloner Podcast. After uploading audio versions of some of my old videos, I noticed my view counts on Anchor.fm increase which means that there may be hope for me to continue producing online content.

As far as when I plan to schedule the show, I was leaning toward Tuesday nights at 9 PM New York time. As far as what I plan to talk about in the podcast, I figure I will do what I did before when I was doing YouTube before they started their nonsense and that is talk about random stuff, You’ll just have to stay tuned.

So it’s safe to say that Blackcatloner lives again.

And yes, that cartoon black cat you see at the top of the post is what I look like now.

And All The Leaves Must Fall

Some of the fall scenery that Central New York is famous for.

Here we are. I am now heading into week 2 of my vacation from work. And so far things have been uneventful, except for the fact that the weather over the weekend has been really beautiful. So beautiful that I finally managed to go outside and see some of the beautiful fall scenery that Central New York is famous for. I even managed to film some footage for the new episode of The Adventures of Blackcatloner this week on blip.tv.

Sunday afternoon (which was known as 10/10/10), I managed to hike on a trail alongside the Erie Canal on the Mohawk side of the canal. The trail actually starts at the old Fort Herkimer Church and goes all the way to the Movac Ambulance Dispatch Center in Mohawk near the canal bridge. I saw people attempting to draw hearts on the gravel portion of the trail and I saw a canal tour boat go by. One of the things I wanted to do ever since I started doing YouTube videos was to go on a boat ride on the Erie Canal to film a video. However just like the previous years, things fell through and I ended up not going. Hopefully next summer, I will be able to follow through on that.

Getting a Clue or The Butler Did It

I know that I have been posting more than usual lately. Maybe it’s a sign of guilt over how I’ve been neglecting this blog in favor of my other online activities, including YouTube and Twitter. Those apps on Facebook and Myspace didn’t really help too much either, or maybe it is because I’ve overcome my very long case of blogger’s block and decided to take up the blog again. It is like what I said before, it’s time to get back to my roots.

Anyway, last night I went out to the latest play by the Ilion Little Theater Club, which is a musical based on one of the most popular board games of all time: “Clue.” In this case, the play was a musical and it has been very popular with Mohawk Valley residents. In fact the first three shows last week were sold out and they had added an extra show because of the enormous popularity. It was also an interactive game in which the audience could take part, as though they were actually playing the board game. And I actually do have a confession to make: I have never played Clue the board game before, even though I have seen the movie they did back in the 80’s. The only time I play board games is Monopoly and that’s only when it is at McDonald’s.

Anyway, back to Clue. The theater also distributed sheets in which the audience could guess who the murderer is, where the murder took place, and what weapon was used based on a series of clues provided by Mr. Boddy, the victim. The night I went, it was revealed that it was Colonel Mustard who killed Mr. Boddy in the lounge with the lead pipe. However, that is not the actual ending of the play. Remember it is an interactive stage production so the suspects could change with each performance. I played along and I ended up getting the room where the murder was committed.

Okay, so I’m no Sherlock Holmes, but at least one out of three ain’t bad.

So anyway, like the week before, it was a packed house so I was lucky to get in when I did. The show was a lot of fun and I recommend to anyone in the Mohawk Valley area to go see this play. It is running again tonight and the extra show is Sunday afternoon in which two bucks will be taken off your admission if you bring a non-perishable food item which will go to a local food pantry. Just in time for Thanksgiving because after all, charity’s always nice.

And so I end this latest installment. So now I got some more things to worry about this week, like Thanksgiving and of course Black Friday (as in how I am going to get footage of Black Friday at work out and then put it on YouTube). Plus I got an extra day of work too.

Resolutions

What the cat said.

What the cat said.

Well here we are. The last day of 2008. And what better way to end the year than with another snowstorm to annoy me. But instead of getting into another rant about how bad the snow’s been here in Central New York, I’m going to do another retropective on the year 2008.

The year 2008 has been a really historic and important year. For one thing, America elected Barack Obama as the first-ever black President of the United States but it’s not just the fact that he was elected. The whole election campaign was also a major historic event because of the fact that it also had a female vice-presidential candidate that was more or less reviled by the world. Also in 2008 news, “The Dark Knight” dominated the box office thanks largely to the late Heath Ledger as the Joker (may he rest in peace); and how about that Michael Phelps, eh? And it ends on a pretty high note because we finally saw OJ Simpson go to jail for armed robbery and kidnapping.

For me, other than the fact that I officially took my Internet life to the next level and started making YouTube videos, the year was more or less uneventful. Even as this year ends, I officially have 320 subscribers on YouTube and growing. I also added Facebook and Twitter to my Internet list. I also have obtained a side job with the Historical Society mowing their lawn and shoveling them out. Speaking of the Historical Society, my book is now officially on permanent hold because I found out about another book that is being written that pretty much parallels what I’m doing. I may decide instead to do a video for YouTube.

As far as 2009 goes, I have really high hopes that it will be my breakout year on the Internet, especially on YouTube. I have several goals I hope to accomplish there but perhaps the biggest goal I would like to achieve next year is that I want to get partnership on YouTube so I can start making money on my videos. As far as what directions I want to go with my videos, I have a variety of ideas that I want to try out, like maybe do some videos that are based on what I write here on this blog and I might do a tutorial video because I had received some comments that asked me for advice about how to make cat videos. Besides, I hear that tutorial videos do really well on YouTube.

Tonight is probably the worst night for me to work, especially since tonight is New Year’s Eve and usually you’re supposed to be with a loved one or with a new relationship instead of being at work. Tonight is really going to suck. Hopefully that will change next year.
